Characters In Divergent/Insurgent

Part of the reason I am enjoying the book is because of the characters. I feel like the characters are very realistic. None of them are perfect, I guess you could say. My favorite character is not the main character, but a side character. Her name is Christina and I think it'd be pretty cool to meet her. Christina is brave and she is also a really good friend for Tris. Another character I really liked was Tobias, or Four for short. I think anyone who read the book could agree that Four sounds really fabulous. He's all muscular and has tattoos. Like the full package. But he also has a soft side that he doesn;t show for many people as well. Four is supportive and is very stubborn. I still think Tris would be fun to meet, but I wouldnt have wanted to meet her at the beginning of the first book, Divergent. Tris was very insecure at the beginning and was quiet. But you could really see her change throughout the books. Tris is now one of the strongest characters in the books. There was one character that no one in the book liked, and I didn;t really like him either... That was Peter. Peter is a butt in the first book. He sabotaged people to get to the top and be better, including Tris. He practically killed her at one point. He was just not nice at all. He kind of sort of maybe changes a little in the second book, but I will always see him as a jerk. Maybe he will change. Hopefully.

Insurgent

So... I didn't know what to blog about so I'm going to write something kind of lame. I will be sharing with you why I like the book series of  Divergent by Veronica Roth. I feel bad becasue the last 3 posts I've made were about this book but whatever.

Anyway, the book is enjoyable because you can really see the main character change throughout the book. I've only read the first and half of the second book, but I know that Tris has changed a lot. The character Four makes me like the book too. When I started the book, I didn't know that there was going to be a movie, but I could totally picture him in my head. And he was totally hot. I think it's cool how from reading a book with good imagery, you can kind of make your own movie in your head while reading it. You could also picture Tris really well. As you read farther in the book, you can sort of slowly piece together an image of what she wears and looks like. Another reason I like the book is because there is romance in the book, but it's not sappy. You know. Like Romeo and Juliet sappy... But at the same time as the romance, there was also drama and intense fighing. It reminded me a lot of the Hunger Games book.

Beatrice Prior

So.. I kind of didn't read anything from the last time I blogged. That's why I'm going to do a post about the character in my book, Beatrice, or Tris Prior. Yay! Tris grew up in her faction learning that you as yourself should not be your first priority, or selflessness. She wasn't allowed to look in the mirror or have any sort of fun, because the people in her faction believed that those things benefitted yourself. So when Tris was put into this new faction, she wasn't used to any of that. She was super awkward and didn't really know how to make friends. Gradually through the book Divergent she starts to think more about herself and puts herself out there. Tris was definitely a dynamic character. Not only did her attitude change, but her thoughts and image as well. She forgets the rules of her faction. For example, she gets a tattoo, which would have been considered bad in her previous faction because you are doing it for yourself. She also falls in love, which isn't something everyone would have accepted in Abnegation. It's kind of hard to talk about the changes she goes through without giving away too much information about the book but... Yup.

Insurgent

In the previous blog post, I told you that I had finished Divergent. Well, I finally got the second book in the trilogy, Insurgent. I am not very far through the book, but Iv'e heard it's almost as good as the first book. (Just a warning that there are a few spoilers from the first book in this post soo...) Tris and Four (Tobias) are with Caleb (Tris's brother), Marcus (Four's dad), Peter (jerk) and Susan (old friend). They are all on a train trying to get to a safe place. I was a little confused as to where the train took them, but I think that they are in the Amity faction. They have been treated very kindly there and are being cared for. That is all I've read so far... Sorry. But I will be updating more information soon! I have a few predictions: I think that Tris will make many more new friends, and maybe even make up with her enemy, Peter. But as every second book in a series is, I predict that she and Four are going to go through some relationship issues. The book probably wouldn't be super interesting if they are in a happy relationship the entire book. Just a thought. Anyway I will post more about the book once I have actually read more of it. ^_^
