Blog Assessment

Question 1:
A word or phrase that demonstrates my writing voice is, “I think I’m on like 65ish.” This demonstrates my voice because I like to keep the tone casual throughout my writing. From using the word “like” or “ish” makes the piece a little less formal. Another phrase is, “after like an hour she went over to his house and watched a movie. Awkward.” This also could let the reader feel like they are talking to me. There are other words that could have been used to make the feeling more formal, like “I felt uncomfortable.” But this could show my personality as a writer because the reader should feel as if they are having a conversation with me. This could define my personality from the word choice in the piece. I like the voice that I use in my blog posts because it makes the post something that I would want to read.

Question 2:

A purposeful diction choice I made in my piece is “The fact that she wheels around the oxygen tank makes me kind of sad.” This shows my voice because the diction is very informal. I could have said, “I read about how Hazel wheels her oxygen tank around with her everywhere in life. This makes me feel sad and depressed inside.” But I didn’t say that, because I want to keep the tone casual. Plus, I would never say that if I were having a conversation with someone. Who even talks like that? A meaningful diction choice I made in the post was having short sentences. For example, “So far, I’m pretty hooked on the book. That rhymed. No it didn’t.” Having the short sentences makes the piece informal and sort of enjoyable to read. And this is something that I could really hear myself saying in real life, outside of a blog post. This shows that my voice came out in my post.

The Fault in our Stars

So I decided to take a break from reading Insurgent, but I will keep reading it soon! I found out that the movie for The Fault in our Stars was soon coming out, and i was like, I have to read it! So I don't know what page I'm on exactly but I think I'm on like 65ish. At this point I've met Augustus, Hazel and Isaac as main characters. So far, I'm pretty hooked on the book. Thet rhymed. No it didnt.

Right now, Hazel and Augustus are at their flirty stage, but I can see from a mile away whats happening between them. I am really enjoying the book. It's funny, which isnt what I was expecting... But it was a pleasant suprise. The fact that she has to wheel around the oxygen tank makes me kind of sad. I think it was super weird how after meeting Augustus for like an hour she went over to his house and watched a movie. Awkward. I don't know why but I really think Augustus is hiding something. He's too perfect. I don't know.
